Ten Day Tax
FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Everything you need to know before getting started with Ten Day Tax.

How is Ten Day Tax different from DIY tax software?+

With DIY software you build the return yourself, prompt by prompt. With Ten Day Tax you answer questions about your situation, upload your documents, and we prepare the return for you. A human tax preparer reviews it before e-file.

Do I have to manually enter my W-2 or 1099?+

No. Upload the document and we handle the tax-form data — no copying Box 1, Box 2, Box 12c. You'll still answer questions about your personal and life situation, because a document can't tell us those things.

What happens if I forget a tax document?+

We review what you've given us against your answers and tell you what's still needed, directly in the secure portal. You don't have to work it out on your own.

Is my return reviewed by a person?+

Yes. A human tax preparer reviews every return before e-file. It's included in the package price, not a paid upgrade.

Will my price increase because I have several tax forms?+

No. Your price depends on how many federal and state returns you need. Multiple W-2s, a 1099-B, an HSA form or a Schedule C don't create form-by-form add-ons within our supported scope.

What does the 10-business-day turnaround mean?+

It's the preparation window. Once we have all the documents and answers required to prepare your return, your first draft is prepared within 10 business days. It doesn't cover your review and signature, payment, e-file transmission, or IRS/state acceptance timing.

What kinds of returns do you support?+

W-2 employment, interest and dividends, stock sales, self-employment, rental income, HSA accounts, student loan interest, dependents, and Marketplace health insurance — federal plus all 50 states.

How does pricing work?+

Flat pricing by package: Federal Only is $99, Federal + 1 State is $139, and Federal + 2 States is $179. Human preparer review is included in every package.

Are there hidden fees?+

No. Pricing is flat per package within our published supported scope. If your situation falls outside that scope, we tell you before any work begins rather than silently including it.

What happens if my draft is late?+

If your first draft is delivered more than 10 business days after all required documents and answers have been received, you get 50% off your preparation fee.

What documents do I need?+

Common items include W-2s, 1099s, 1095-A, HSA forms, student loan interest statements, prior-year returns, and any income or expense records that apply to your situation. We'll request anything specific after your intake.

Can I email my W-2 or 1099?+

No. Please do not send tax documents by regular email or through the contact form. Use the secure client portal.

Do you handle self-employment income?+

Yes. Self-employment income and 1099-NEC forms are included in standard pricing.

Do you handle stock sales?+

Yes. 1099-B and consolidated brokerage statements are included in standard pricing.

Do you handle rental property?+

Yes. Schedule E rental income and expenses for typical rental situations are included in standard pricing.

Do you handle Marketplace insurance?+

Yes. 1095-A reconciliation and premium tax credit are included in standard pricing.

Do you support state returns?+

Yes. Federal and all 50 state returns are supported.

Do you handle J-1, nonresident, overseas, or expat filings?+

No. We do not currently handle J-1/nonresident returns or overseas/expat tax filings.

What happens after I approve the draft?+

After you review and sign, we e-file your return and deliver a final copy to your secure client portal.

What if my return is rejected?+

If the e-file is rejected by the IRS or a state, we'll work with you to resolve the issue and resubmit.
